The centre of Huntingdon has recently undergone massive alterations. The High Street, formerly the main road through the town, is now pedestrianised and closed to traffic for most of the day. The Market Place has similarly undergone a facelift in conjunction with a refurbishment of the famous Thinking Soldier War Memorial.

On the whole the town centre regeneration has improved the business climate and attracted new retailers such as Tesco and Sainsbury's with Marks and Spencer's just moving in.
